SWEDISH-STYLE COUNTRY HOUSE IN BROOKLYN
This lovely townhouse had great bones, but was in need of an overhaul.
675 SQUARE FEET FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR - NYC'S UPPER WEST SIDE (Phases 1 and 2)
This 675 square-foot apartment, home to a family of four, is a study in small space living.
270 SQUARE FOOT STUDIO
The client, a recent retiree, lives in this small studio rental. After years of living in the space, she wanted to upgrade it for her new life.
The tenants of this small, old kitchen had both space and budget constraints. The space was in dire need of repair.
This kitchen was in dire need of a makeover. The space was a hodgepodge of furniture meant to act as storage and counter space since the original kitchen had very little of either.
This below sidewalk bedroom was dark and unwelcoming. The bland boxy walls, broken down furniture, and damaged floor needed a refresh.
NOHO LOFT KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS
The kitchen and bathrooms in this NoHo loft had never been renovated even though the client had owned the space since the 1990's. The low ceiling and dated cabinets in the dark 1970's style kitchen worked against the rest of the open and light space in the loft
MARLA AARON JEWELRY STUDIO
"It's a really small, ugly, dark space," Marla told Joanna when she contacted her for help. Together, Joanna and Marla envisioned what the former dismal office could be.
TEENAGER’S BEDROOM TRANSFORMED
The teenage girl who lived in this room decided she needed a redo before senior year. The room was full of keepsakes and overstuffed with clothes, shoes and childhood toys. The walls were covered with posters and art projects. Her desk was a repository for stuff. The young woman wanted a clean, calm, grown-up, organized space where she could focus on her last year of high school and look forward to the time when she would visit on college vacations and where her parents could host guests when she wasn’t there.
INEFFICIENT TWO BEDROOM BECOMES THREE BEDROOM WITH DEN
This two bedroom, two bathroom apartment for a family of four didn’t seem as big or efficient as it should have. Overly deep built-in cabinets in the living room hogged space and were in the wrong place. Another area of the living room looked forlorn and wasn’t being used to its full extent. The large master bedroom was a waste of space. The bathrooms and kitchen needed an overhaul and the children, a boy and a girl, needed their own spaces.
FINANCIAL DISTRICT STUDIO APARTMENT
The new space has ample mood lighting throughout, and a clean palate that makes the apartment feel sizable, airy, and elegant. Floors are large scale ceramic tile, the built-ins are custom walnut. All this in 500 square feet!
